2012
A group of elementary school children at Long Ridge School in Stamford have been meeting for a few months now every Monday after school. They determined that they are all passionate about putting an end to hunger. They know 1 out of 5 kids go to bed hungry and are determined to make a difference. This impressive group of kids put together their second annual pancake breakfast on Saturday, February 2, with the help of food donations from local stores (Scott’s Corner Market, Parkway Diner, Cafe OoLaLa, and Rye Ridge Deli,Sundown Saloon and The Shack). They proudly seated and took orders from all their patrons. They also provided Valentine Making cards. Over $1100 was raised and will go toward creating a “Feed My Starving Children” event this fall. All the left over food items were again delivered to a Stamford Covenant House soup kitchen. They were delighted with all the eggs, syrup, boxes of pancake mix, bananas, apples and more.
