Plan a Playground

Our KHK teens decided to renovate a playground at Inspirica, a shelter for those that need a place to live. Their annual Thanksgiving Bread Bake last November was dedicated to raising funds to do just that.   Our first phase of renovation led by a team of 3 juniors at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, was completed on Thursday, May 17th.  Thanks to Keough’s Paint in Stamford for the donation of all the paint and Charity Bikes for the tricycles and helmets as well at Turner Construction for their consulting time!  We are looking for some additional teens with a passion for FUN and creativity for the second phase of this project. If this is you, contact us.

WHY A PLAYGROUND?   Kids Helping Kids is an actively engaged at Inspirica (formally known as St. Luke’s Lifeworks) hosting quarterly birthday parties for their children, distributing gently worn shoes at our regular “Share your Shoes Store” to name a few.  After speaking to a resident at our last event, our teens have decided to take on another project there and it is all centered around PLAY. ” I am grateful to have a safe place to sleep for myself and my daughter but I desperately want a safe place for her to be able to play while we are living in this transitional housing. The sandbox is used by the animals as a litterbox so it is unsafe, the wood chips are so old they give the kids splinters and the small play set is rusting and unsafe.”  said a resident while talking about the lack of play at the St. Luke’s facility in Stamford.

If you have know of people or companies that would be interested in partnering with us by donating their time, talents, supplies or money, please contact us.  We need paint, brushes, playground mulch, playground toys, and more. We have been generously given 4 bikes with helmets to use on the gated playground!  Help our youth realize the impact they have to create change in the world.
