Sole Exchange at SHS

Cali Schenkel, 9th grader at Stamford High School decided to start a Sole exchange, modeled after the Share Your Shoes Program in the New Balance store in New Canaan. Cali is an avid runner and knows how important it is to have a good pair of running shoes.  She called Treads & Treads in New Canaan and spoke with owner, Mickey Yardis.  He is one of the most generous people in the business and he quickly offered to set up a bin for his customers to donate gently used shoes and sneakers.  ”It is great for us and the customers love knowing that their shoes are going to a super cause. I just call Cali and she comes and picks them up. It is a win win all around. ” states Yardis.  Kids at SHS benefit.  They have a place through the guidance counselors that connect kids in need with this donated footwear.  If you are interested in helping, feel free to drop off shoes at Treads & Treads or make a  financial donation.
