This annual Handled with Care Dress Boutique project started in 2012 when Ally,16, went out shopping for a prom dress realized how hard it must be for girls that could not afford a new dress. She really wanted to create a beautiful and dignified shopping experience and the seed of this idea grew into the Annual Dress Boutique. We now collect hundreds of gently worn and new dresses of all sizes for girls that can benefit from this one day shopping boutique. KHK partners with many schools and stores to collect all of the dresses, jewelry, shoes and accessories to make this spring event a memorable experience. We also have hair consultations, make up and we top if off with a photo shoot for all of the guests! This year on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5:30-9pm, we hosted over 670 guests and assisted them with choosing 2 -3 dresses, a pair of shoes, jewelry, accessories, makeup and hair consultations and a one of a kind photo shoot!
Oh, what a night! On Friday, April 20th, KHK hosted their annual Handled with Care Dress Boutique at the Boys & Girls Club, Yerwood Unit. Upon arrival, guests were invited to attend a self-esteem seminar, presented by LiveGirl, and then make a greeting card for children battling cancer in the hospital. Over 650 women and girls attended the event to shop for special occasion dresses, get a makeover and hair styling tips and enjoy a free photo shoot! We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from our KHK volunteers and the community! This event would not be possible without all of the schools, vendors and businesses who held a dress drive for this night. We also want to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation who helped us transform the gym into a beautiful boutique! It was a joyous occasion to see so many happy girls in the dress of their dreams! Thank you for joining us, everyone! Click here to see all of our photos of the sorting, set up, and the event!
2017 – The annual “Handled with Care Dress Boutique” took place on April 21st at the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford, Yerwood Unit.
We found homes for over 500 beautiful dresses in addition to providing make-up, shoes, and jewelry for over 500 guests. They received manicures, hair consultations, and had their make up done and it was topped off with a stunning photo shoot. In return, our guests made over 600 caring cards that will get delivered to kids in the hospital. The guests gave us glowing reviews and 100% of them said they will attend another KHK event and a number asked how they can become a volunteer! Partnership makes this happen. We want to thank those who collaborated with us!
Corporate Partners: Caren Forbes, Vanity Studio , Salon Shahin, Torrance York Studios, Ridgeway Cleaners, Michele Ayoub and many others.
We are always looking to improve how we do things at Kids Helping Kids and request that you reflect on the event and fill out a survey!
