What leadership skills (that you learned at KHK) helped you navigate college?

The first leadership skill I learned at KHK that I have taken with me to college is adaptability. Having mastered the ability to adjust to unforeseen changes has allowed me to successfully study abroad in Milan, Italy for one semester. The next leadership skill that KHK fostered was team building. During my time on the Youth Advisory Council I learned how to encourage collaboration with an open dialogue among team members. Team building has allowed me to thrive in college especially in business classes. Adaptability is a skill that I frequently exercised during my time studying at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Università Bocconi. I spent a semester in a different country where I did not speak the language. I had to navigate my way around the language barrier by taking an Italian class, utilized translation apps, and immersed myself with locals. I adapted to cultural norms and social practices quickly with my flexibility. Local etiquette, dress codes and how to navigate the metro are some examples of life I figured out how to adhere to. Team building has been beneficial to my academic success at Providence College. As a marketing major, a required class (and to this day has been my favorite!) is Organizational Behavior. This class was structured exclusively in teams, which was not new to me, thanks to KHK. I finished the class with an A (which isn’t the norm for me) and I attribute this high mark not only to my hard work, but also to successful collaboration. Our team encouraged each other to share our ideas in a judge- free zone. Having several diverse perspectives allowed us to come to better conclusions.

Can you share your favorite KHK project or memory?

My favorite KHK project is the dress boutique. The dress boutique is fun for me because I get to see others share my passion for fashion! Looking your best is a way that helps me feel more confident. I love being part of a day that encourages young women to feel more confident in themselves.
