October of 2009 was the birth of the Annual Cuts for a Cause event. We encouraged people to get their hair appointments at an amazing hair boutique, Salon Kiklo in New Canaan. We invited people to bring friends and family! Cuts for Adults $60, Children $30. Wash & Blowdry only $30. No need to have long hair to get a haircut, all proceeds will go toward making wigs for needy kids with Alopecia Areata and other diseases causing hair loss. The salon’s stylists and teens from 8 different schools raised over $2,700 in donations the first year to buy wigs for Locks of Love, an organization which helps financially disadvantaged children who have lost their hair due to long term illness. Aside from the stylists, the event was completely run by our Kids Helping Kids team. Additionally, the teens held a bake sale which contributed $470. One of our local in need ambassadors had alopecia which is how this started! Many thanks to all those who helped support this community event.
