At KHK, we invite you to bring your own ideas to life! Discover what you’re passionate about — whether it’s a social cause or simply a hobby — and KHK Staff will support you in designing and executing a personalized service project that helps other kids in the community.
Signature Projects are annual, large scale events. Each of these events were once youth-led passion projects, and now are led by a committee-style team of dedicated youth volunteers who help make the event a success year after year.
1-2 hour opportunities for volunteers to “show-up and serve” to existing or pre-planned projects. Projects change from month-to-month. Check Project Calendar for the most up-to-date opportunities.
Middle and High School students are the backbone of our organization! Our unique model allows middle and high school students to develop leadership skills through youth-led service opportunities. We have dozens of different projects throughout the year that you can get involved in and we are always interested in hearing your ideas if you have a new project you would like to launch. Become a volunteer today to develop your leadership skills and make a positive impact on other kids in the community!
Students in 9th grade and up and who have been with KHK at least 4 years have the opportunity to join our Youth Advisory Council. YAC members meet twice a month to plan large-scale service projects, the spring celebration, fundraising events and orientation meetings. YAC members commit to attending three of the four signature projects each year.
Volunteer with at least 10 hours in service projects annually, attended 3 community team building meetings per year, has joined the planning committee of at least 1 signature project.
Volunteers who have attended an orientation meeting + attended at least 1 community team building meeting per year + volunteered at least five hours in service projects annually.
We do offer a handful of service opportunities for our younger future leaders, kids in elementary school grades 1-5. Our elementary projects are designed to be fun, accessible ways for children to spread kindness, learn about service, and give some of their time to others. Kids participating in our elementary-aged projects will be mentored by our older KHK volunteers who know first hand how giving a little can make such a big impact!
Please note: Elementary-aged children must have a guardian present at these projects, but we ask that the parents take an observational role and let the kids lead.
While Kids Helping Kids projects are initiated, managed and led by students, every project needs adult facilitators. We also have a wide range of opportunities for adults to get involved in areas that they enjoy. Some of our current needs include:
If you’re interested in any of these opportunities– or if you have other ideas about how you can contribute– please get in touch with us – we’d love to hear from you!
